Position Description

The Agriculture and Natural Resources Coordinator implements and assesses programs and activities designed to assist federal and state agencies and Extension faculty and staff in serving agriculture and natural resource needs in the state. The ideal candidate will serve as the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Coordinator for Nevada and coordinate the activities statewide. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a professional statewide sustainable agriculture training program to improve agriculture production and conservation among producers. The faculty will Chair the UNR Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Program Team, lead and conduct statewide needs assessments, and facilitate working groups. Establishment of a competitively funded program to support teaching programs is expected. The Agriculture and Natural Resources Coordinator will report to the Associate Director of Extension.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience; OR Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience. Related Work Experience: Grant experience and experience in a field directly related to agriculture and natural resources or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with knowledge of agriculture and natural resources in dry climates; grant development and management processes; ability to use data analysis software (SAS, Stata, SPSS etc.); government agencies (e.g., USDA, federal and state government); general methods and techniques in program planning, design and evaluation; ability to facilitate teams to achieve shared goals; and supervision of staff and basic HR policies/procedures are encouraged to apply.

Travel Requirements

Work a flexible schedule, with periodic evening and weekend work. Travel within the state with some overnight stays. Out-of-state travel required for conferences and meetings
