Position Summary:


University of Idaho Extension is seeking applicants for a 12-month, tenure track position as Assistant or Associate Professor, Extension Educator in horticulture and small farms, 4-H youth development, and integrated pest management. This position is located at the University of Idaho Extension office in St. Anthony, Fremont County.The Extension Educator will provide horticulture and small farms programming including the Idaho Master Gardener Program in Fremont and surrounding counties (60% of Extension time); provide 4-H youth development programs (30% of Extension time); and work with other Extension educators to provide leadership for integrated pest management programs in the county and the eastern district (10% of Extension time). In addition, the educator will provide service and leadership (15%), including serving as the chair of the UI Extension Office in Fremont County and will conduct scholarship/creative activities (5%) receiving a 5% stipend for chair work.


Minimum Qualifications:


• An earned Master’s degree from an accredited institution in horticulture, agricultural science, Extension education, youth development, or a closely related discipline. The required degree(s) must be completed by the date of hire.

• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.

• Ability to work effectively as a team player.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Computer literacy and competence in using technology for program delivery, record keeping, reporting, and team-based communications.


Preferred Qualifications:


• Extension experience in horticulture, small farms, 4-H youth development, and/or integrated pest management.

• Ability to design, market, conduct, and evaluate educational programs.

• Experience in disseminating research results through scholarly outlets such as refereed/peer reviewed publications and/or oral presentations.

• Supervisory experience of staff and/or volunteers including recruiting, teaching, supervising, mentoring and managing others.

• Experience working with underserved audiences.

• Strong organizational skills.
