Position Summary:

 

University of Idaho Extension is seeking applicants for a 12-month, tenure track position as Assistant or Associate Professor, Extension Educator, Livestock and 4-H Youth Development, Oneida County. This position is located in the Oneida County Extension office in Malad City, Idaho and includes the responsibilities to share expertise and actively participate on a collegial livestock team within the Central and Eastern District.

 

The Extension Educator will have overall leadership and organization for multi-county livestock (50%); and 4-H Youth Development program (30%). In addition, the educator will provide service and leadership (15%), including serving as the chair of Oneida County Extension Office and will conduct scholarship/creative activities (5%).

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

*Master’s degree in Animal Science, Adult and Extension Education, Agricultural Science, Range Science, Agricultural Business, or a closely related discipline.

*Skill in organizing material, information and people in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication of effort.

*Ability to work with people of various social, cultural, economic and education backgrounds.

*Computer literacy and effective written and oral communication skills.

*Competence in using technology for program delivery, record keeping and reporting, and team-based communications.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

*Extension experience in livestock management.

*Ability to adapt research materials for effective oral and written presentations.

*Experience in disseminating results through scholarly outlets

*Ability to work well in a team and provide effective instruction, support, marketing and promotion for Extension programs.

*Experience in hiring and supervising office staff.

 

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

 

*Willing and able to travel and adjust to a flexible schedule (i.e. participate in evening and weekend programs).

*The successful candidate must obtain an Idaho pesticide consultants license during their first year of hire.
