Assistant Director Agriculture and Natural Resources (Associate/Full Professor)

The Assistant Director provides leadership and direction for Agriculture and Natural Resources programming with emphasis on program and curriculum development; applied research; identifying potential collaboration and partnerships with universities, colleges, departments, peer agencies and industry partners; securing funding to support related activities; administrative leadership for the state Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources office; and professional development of faculty and staff.
Specifically, the Assistant Director is expected to set the strategic direction of OSU Extension’s Agriculture and Natural Resources programmatic area and work to develop buy-in among faculty, staff and stakeholders. Once the strategic direction is established, the Assistant Director will develop a process to establish goals and expectations. To accomplish these goals and reach these expectations, the Assistant Director will be expected to establish productive and healthy relationships with internal and external partners including but not limited to: other Extension program areas, CFAES administration and central support units, CFAES academic units, units throughout the university, university compliance units, commodity organizations, county commissioners, and local organizations across OSU Extension’s Statewide Campus. The Assistant Director will also be expected to develop and maintain a state-level unit with a keen focus on supporting local/county programming.
Qualifications:
- Earned Master’s Degree, Ph.D. preferred, in an agriculture or natural resources related field.
- Leadership experience in a large, decentralized organization or system.
- Experience teaching, coach and/or consulting in an area of or across agriculture and natural resources related fields.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a willingness and ability to work closely with diverse groups of academic (e.g., students, staff, faculty) and practitioner audiences.
- Qualifies for the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with tenure in the Department of Extension.
