The Oregon State University Extension Family and Community Health (FCH) Program is seeking a Food Security and Safety Program Manager.  This professional position is a member of the statewide team of the OSU Extension Family and Community Health (FCH) program, affiliated with the College of Public Health and Human Sciences (PHHS).

The Food Security and Safety Program Manager provides statewide leadership, and will be based in either the Marion or Polk County, Oregon office of OSU Extension.
The overarching purpose of this position is to integrate, leverage, and expand current FCH and other Extension programming to promote community food security, defined as equitable access to affordable, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food. (This is the 2020-2024 State Health Improvement Plan, Healthier Together Oregon, definition.)

Extension FCH and the College of PHHS align toward a common vision of lifelong health and well-being for individuals, families and communities in Oregon, and beyond. This affiliation brings national distinction among land-grant universities and schools of public health because of the unique, built-in capacity for impactful outreach through OSU Extension Service FCH. FCH integrates an interdisciplinary, public health focus on health and well-being equity across the lifespan and human sciences research into PHHS Extension community-related practice.

This position will collaboratively develop and implement an integrated vision for community food security programming. The integrated vision will bring together community food security efforts, food safety and preservation efforts, educational approaches, and future programming to meet the needs of Oregonians. The Program Manager is part of a team of Extension faculty and staff serving the state of Oregon. Collaborative work across disciplines, organizational units, and Extension program areas is expected. Through collaboration with Agriculture Extension programs, this position also contributes to support for farm-based, direct-market, value-added food businesses.

This position requires traveling. Active and effective communication with staff and key stakeholders is critical to the success of this position, wireless access may be necessary.
