New Mexico State University, College of Agricultural, Consumer & Environmental Sciences, Cooperative Extension Service announces the opening of an Extension Specialist/Behavioral Health. This is a 12-month, tenure track position with the rank of Assistant Professor. The Extension Specialist statewide provides leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of research- or evidence-based community education in the area of behavioral health including development of educational curricula, products, and publications.

The Cooperative Extension Service (CES) is central to carrying out the NMSU land-grant mission of delivering research-based information and practices to the diverse population of New Mexico. CES provides the people of New Mexico with practical, sound, science and programs to improve their quality of life.
Required Qualifications
A Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to family studies, counseling, social work, human development, psychology, psychiatry, or a related field of study and 3-years of related experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred: Licensed behavioral health professional with clinical experience: Experience working with Native American, Latinx, and/or rural populations; Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/NM Indigenous language); Extension, outreach, or teaching experience.
Travel Requirements
Position may be located in Las Cruces or Albuquerque, New Mexico. Position has statewide responsibilities, travel is required in this position and may require working occasional evenings or weekends.
