Position Description

OEE invites applications and nominations for an Extension State Program Specialist, 4-H Youth Development/Volunteer Development. This is a full-time, twelve (12) month, non-tenure track faculty position on the Extension instructor track (instructor, senior, master) or the Extension professor track (assistant, associate, professor) dependent upon the candidate’s academic credentials and professional experience. The faculty appointment, evaluation, and promotion standards are centered around the three core duties of extension faculty – educate, create, and connect (Faculty Educate Create Connect Supplemental PDF (1).pdf). Candidates are sought with interests that complement and expand upon current initiatives and education activities in OEE.

The individual in this position will provide leadership, guidance, organization, management, and educational opportunities to support volunteer development as part of the CSU Extension 4-H Youth Development team. This person may also be called upon to consult with or provide volunteer training for other Extension programs as appropriate. This individual is expected to possess expertise in principles of volunteer program management and positive youth development with application to participant safety, well-being and overall risk management.

The individual in this position will work as a member of the Colorado State 4-H Youth Development team housed on the CSU Campus, Fort Collins, to support the delivery of educational efforts across the state. The primary office location is in Fort Collins, CO. While this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, the individual is expected to maintain a balance establishing a presence in the primary office, to effectively carry out the duties of the position. The work schedule will vary, and occasional nights and weekends will be required. This individual works under the guidance and supervision of the Director of 4-H Youth Development.

 

· Completed master’s degree. Degree may have been awarded in a number of different areas, but must provide a broad and significant understanding of youth development, education, and adult learning.

· 3+ years professional experience relevant to the Essential Job Duties.

· Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience or course work in audience-needs identification, program development, experiential learning and program evaluation. Knowledge of and/or experience in Extension 4-H Youth Development. Experience in developing and managing financial support for educational programs. Experience developing, recommending and evaluating program procedures. Ability to speak Spanish. Demonstrated leadership ability and evidence of drive and initiative. Evidence of ability to manage conflict and evidence of effective problem-solving skills. Knowledge of and/or experience in risk management and youth protection as it relates to programming. Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse audiences; this may include persistent effort, intentional programming, community engagement.
