Starting salary range for this position will be $42,000 - $72,000 and will commensurate with education and experience.

Colorado State University Extension and the City and County of Denver (Denver) work cooperatively to engage the community in locally-driven programming enhanced by partners, campus, and community-based expertise and resources. Denver Extension operates as a unit in Denver’s Department of Parks and Recreation; the Director of Natural Resources serves as Denver’s liaison to CSU Extension. The office staff includes a director position, two 4-H youth development agents, one social justice and community development specialist, one Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) educator, a Master Gardener coordinator who is also the fiscal manager for the office, one part-time support staff, and a number of AmeriCorps members, and interns. PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under the supervision of the Denver Extension Director, this individual will serve as a key leader within the Denver Extension office. This position will help guide Denver Extension’s efforts in working with communities that face discrimination. Potential actions towards this goal include using an equity and social justice framework to identify audiences and their interests, designing and implementing marketing and outreach needs, internal Denver Extension staff training and coaching, conducting externally focused training for partner organizations and community members, and refining program delivery and program evaluation methods.
Lastly, this position will provide leadership, guidance, direction and educational opportunities in an Extension programmatic area of need for the city and county of Denver. The topics of this programing could include but is not limited to community and economic development, natural resources and environmental justice, and/or food systems work.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Program Planning, Development, Delivery, Evaluation and Reporting: 70%
- Perform internal staff training and coaching for Denver Extension staff around JEDI, cultural competencies, and delivering programing rooted in the CSU Principles of Community and equity.
- Evaluate current standard operating procedures around communication, finances, and partner development. Co-create with staff new ways of doing business that removes systemic barriers to accessing Extension programing and resources.
- Facilitate delivery of non-credit educational programming on the topics of JEDI, cultural companies, and educational programing rooted in social justice.
- Facilitate delivery of non-credit educational programming on one or multiple priority program topics including but not limited to natural resources, community economic development and food systems.
- Evaluate programing efforts and report educational outcomes.

Initiate and Develop Relationships and Partnerships: 30%
- Organize Extension specific and attend community meetings and to serve as a key individual for engagement with historically marginalized residents, community needs assessment, community integration, and program implementation with an equity-forward approach to Denver Extension programing.
- Assure compliance with civil rights and affirmative action policies including reaching out to underserved and underrepresented audiences.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed bachelor’s degree.
- Degree must be conferred in education, agriculture, natural resources, family and consumer sciences, nutrition, food safety and health; individual, family and community wellbeing; human and family development; community development and engagement; youth development; animal health; energy; food systems; horticulture; or a closely related field.
- A successful candidate without a completed master’s degree will be required to complete a master’s degree within five years from the start of employment. The degree process must be initiated within 12 months of the hire date. Failure to do so will result in termination unless a compelling reason is accepted by the Vice President of Engagement and Extension.
- Ability to communicate through teaching, public speaking/presentation and writing as demonstrated through application materials and experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with people as individuals and in groups; ability to forge equitable and successful partnerships with other professionals and organizations.
- Demonstrated use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed master’s degree.
- A minimum of 3 years’ professional experience that demonstrates the ability to establish and grow relationships with communities that face discrimination resulting in measurable outcomes.
- Professional experience with a systems-based approach to DEI initiatives.
- Experience providing coaching and mentoring to internal and external audiences.
- Successful experience in developing financial support for educational programs.
- Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish.
