Position Description

Under the limited direction of the Director of Cooperative Extension, the Extension Specialist 4-H Youth Development State Program Leader provides leadership in educational program development, resource development, coordination and evaluation, personnel management, communications and marketing, and relationships and liaisons. The position is a member of the Extension leadership team and provides overall organizational leadership and support for the Delaware 4-H Youth Development Program.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Leadership – Provide strategic direction and leadership to advance the 4-H program’s impact across the state.
  2. Collaboration – Foster partnerships with stakeholders, government agencies, and community organizations to enhance program reach and effectiveness.
  3. Innovation – Drive innovation in youth development, utilizing cutting-edge educational approaches and technologies.
  4. Team Building – Inspire and lead a dedicated team of professionals, creating a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Required Qualifications

- Demonstrated leadership experience in youth development educational programs and youth and adult education methods.
<p>- Supervisory experience in managing both staff and volunteers.</p>
<p>- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. </p>
<p>- Strategic thinker with a passion for community engagement and youth empowerment.</p>
- Ability to provide oversight in identifying, developing, and preparing grant proposals for funding of educational programs and applied research projects.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree plus 6 years related experience in Extension teaching, research, or related experience OR Doctorate plus 2 years experience (preferred).

Must be able to pass a state background check to work in schools.
