Position Summary

Descriptive Title

The Extension Specialist for the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network ( FRAN ) grant is responsible to the Assistant Dean for the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences ( FCS ) and receives direction from the grant's Principle Investigator (PI) and the grant's lead evaluator. This specialist provides leadership for program evaluation activities for the FRSAN Program to focus on the promotion of mental health of farmers through the delivery of community based interventions. This is a non-tenure accruing position. Continuation of this grant-funded appointment is contingent upon contingent funding through the National Institute of Food and Agriculture ( NIFA ) within the United States Department of Agriculture ( USDA ).

Salary and Other Benefits

Salary is commensurate with training and experience. This is a grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon performance and funding. Required Qualifications

Earned Masters Degree in program evaluation ,Family and Consumer Sciences, psychology, social work, child and family studies, human development, agricultural leadership, community development or closely related field with a GPA of 2.7 or above. Minimum of 5 years work experience without an earned doctorate as an Extension Assistant II or related position. Demonstrated promise in evaluation, teaching, Extension, and /or service in alignment with the appointment. Experience with quantitive and qualitive research methods.

Other Requirements

Strong collaboration and communication skills (verbal and written). Experience in collecting and analyzing quantitive and qualitive data. Knowledge of mental health, rural issues, agriculture and family stress. Demonstrated project management skills and ability. Ability to organize, apply sound judgement, and complete assignments in a timely manner both independently and as part of a team. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with both intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams. Ability to travel within and outside the state as necessary.
