Founded in 1893 as a Land Grant University, Montana State University (MSU) is composed of eight academic colleges and a graduate school and boasts a friendly, supportive faculty and campus environment. Bozeman is located in the beautiful Gallatin Valley, 90 miles north of Yellowstone National Park.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Extension Gerontology Specialist, located within the Department of Health and Human Development, coordinates relevant and current information from as variety of sources to facilitate and deliver effective non-biased, researched-based educational activities that address the needs of an aging population, caregivers, families and professionals working in the field. The Specialist develops appropriate Extension gerontology related educational programs and resources; assists in their delivery and evaluation across the state; provides training to Extension Agents, conducts research and publishes, including research that addresses identified needs and emerging issues; obtains and manages external funding; serves on university, state and national committees; and disseminates information to mass media on gerontology topics. The program design should be responsive to changing needs and policies at the state, regional and national levels. Programming should be designed to reach all Montanans including rural, vulnerable and at-risk populations.
