Description:
Purpose. The Livestock and Natural Resources Cooperative Extension (CE) advisor will conduct extension and applied research to make a positive impact related to: 1. The interaction of beef cattle and small ruminant production systems with water quality, water quantity, and riparian health to enhance ecosystem services of irrigated pasture and rangelands; 2. The integration of livestock grazing practices and adaptive management strategies for potential climatic, environmental, and socioeconomic challenges that exist now and may arise in the future;3. Applied grazing management practices to reduce fire fuel loads, control invasive species, and meet wildlife conservation objectives; 4. Sustainable livestock production as it relates to animal health and well-being, nutrition, genetic selection, reproductive efficiency, and marketing. This an exciting opportunity to have meaningful impacts in the communities of Siskiyou County and throughout northern California. Opportunities abound for research and extension partnerships that link producers and resource professionals with relevant science-based information and promote effective problem solving. You will also join a team of highly motivated UCCE colleagues who are passionate about their work, and are dedicated to making a difference within the communities and working landscapes of California. The potential for collaborative projects within the UC ANR system is nearly limitless.

Minimum education level :
A minimum of a master's degree is required in Animal Science, Rangeland Ecology, Watershed Management, or another related field. Certification: Ability to obtain a Certified Rangeland Manager Certification within five years of date of hire is required; please seehttp://casrm.rangelands.org/HTML/certified.html
