Description:
The full time Extension Agent, Agriculture and Natural resources is responsible for planning, delivery and evaluation of non-traditional educational programming of particular interest to West Virginias Disadvantaged Farmers. These groups include minority, veteran, new and beginning farmers and individuals participating in addiction treatment centers. This is a grant-funded position and is supported through a cooperative agreement with the Natural Resources Conservation Service and WVSU R&D.Working with the Program PI, Assistant Program Director, and identified partners and stakeholders, the agent will be responsible for providing Urban Agriculture opportunities in Charleston and Huntington through the establishment of an Agriculture Training Hub.

Other duties may be assigned.Program Development, Reporting and Fiscal ManagementEducational Program Development/Delivery Program Participant RecruitmentAdministrationTechnical Assistance and Other Duties as RequiredEssential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:Program Development, Reporting and Fiscal Management Coordinate the delivery of various WVSUES programs with emphasis on Urban AgricultureDevelop community-based events, workshops and training experiencesCollaborate with local, state and national educational outreach programs to enhance educational workshops and outreach activitiesDevelop, implement and assess program impactsAssist in collection, evaluation, recording and submission of Civil Rights Data.Reporting and tracking participant dataReporting and tracking of fiscal data to program PIEducational Program Development and Delivery Creation of a needs-based curriculum focused on target audiencesImplement community based events, workshops and training experiencesRecruit, manage and direct volunteers to support educational effortsPrepare a schedule of events and actively promote participationAdministrationSeek sustainability for future program funding and site locationsAssist to recruit, train, recognize and retain program participants and volunteersAssist in maintenance of accurate records on screening, job descriptions, placements and evaluations of volunteersMaintain timely achievement of program benchmarks Technical Assistance Provide field expertise to community members and partnersServe on advisory boards and committeesSubmit articles or other information to internal and external publicationsParticipate in community eventsOther Duties as Assigned Conduct activities to foster a positive public image of West Virginia State University Extension and West Virginia State University, an 1890 Land-Grant InstitutionRepresent West Virginia State University Extension with appropriate individuals, agencies and organizations on a state, regional, national and international basisWork collaboratively with other Extension Agents and staff to create and deliver interdisciplinary programs. This includes programs with West Virginia University Extension Service and other university partners as well as external agency and organizational partnersCreate and deliver professional presentations that highlight ANR work at WVSU and assist with delivery at conferencesOther duties may be assigned

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education level :
A Bachelor's degree is required, Masters preferred in one of the following fields:
Years of experience :
Agriculture and natural resources, nutrition, family and consumer sciences, biological or social sciences and education.
Travel Requirements:
Travel state-wide but may also include various portions of the United States based on attendance requirements for training and/or reporting for grant purposes.
