Post Rock District is comprised of Jewell, Lincoln, Mitchell, Osborne, and Smith counties in north-central Kansas. Six extension agents serve this district, which has a combined population of 16,997. This position will extend the mission of K-State Research and Extension Family and Consumer Sciences with a focus on family resource management. 1. Provide primary leadership for the development and implementation of research-based educational programming tosupport successful families and the systems that serve them in communities. Programs may include but are notlimited to: financial planning and management, Medicare and insurance education, consumer decision-making,lifestyle and business transition planning, entrepreneurship, and home management to promote independent living. 2. Share responsibility for the 4-H youth development programming related to family resource management and familyand consumer sciences. 3. Programming will include these steps: 3a) Identify local needs and emerging issues related to K-State Research and Extensions five Grand Challenges(water, community vitality, health, developing tomorrows leaders and global food systems) by engaging withprogram development committees and other community organizations and professionals. 3b) Design appropriate educational strategies to engage clientele. These strategies might include deliveringeducational programming in a community-based setting, coordinating events and activities that provideexperiential learning opportunities, using innovative technologies, providing individual educational consultationsand facilitating groups seeking similar educational outcomes. Some overnight travel and evening and weekendwork will be required. 3c) Develop and implement strategies to expand the reach of educational programming to under-served audiencesand to make certain K-State Research and Extension is an equal opportunity provider of educationalprogramming. 3d) Collect and communicate evidence of educational program impact. 3e) Develop specialized knowledge and skills by engaging as a member of the Family Resource ManagementProgram Focus Team. 4. Secure external funding such as grants, gifts and cost recovery to supplement local tax revenue to support andexpand educational programming. 5. Serve as a member of the Post Rock Extension District team cooperating in the planning and delivery of district-wideprogramming and related events.

Additional Description, Instructions or Comments:
SALARY, BENEFITS, AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: 1. Salary commensurate with professional experience and available funding as negotiated by the regional extension director, the local extension board and the applicant. The base starting salary is $41,500 for a BS degree with no professional experience and $45,500 for a MS degree with no professional experience. 2. Extension agents are Kansas State University educators and have the Board of Regents retirement plan, health and life insurance and vacation and sick leave. Depending on the date of hire there is a minimum of 30-day waiting period for health insurance. For a complete list of benefits see: 3. Reimbursement for travel related to achieving program objectives. 4. New agents are provided approximately 15 days of new agent professional development on the K-State campus during the first six to nine months. These 15 days are spread out in four different weeks. In addition, new agents spend at least three weeks with a mentor agent during the first year.

QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: 1. Bachelor's degree. 2. Academic coursework and/or professional development and professional employment related to the position responsibilities. 3. Evidence of strong academic and/or professional performance as documented by college transcripts, acceptance into a graduate program or documented success in increasingly responsible professional positions. 4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals, groups and through mass media. 5. Leadership skills as evidenced by working with individuals, groups and co-workers. 6. Access to a personal vehicle and the ability to obtain/maintain a valid drivers license. PREFERRED: 1. Master's degree. 2. Experience working with adults and youth from various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. 3. Commitment to personal professional development. 4. Ability to utilize electronic communication and computer applications to fulfill programming responsibilities. 5. Self-motivation and ability to work with minimum supervision, balancing multiple projects. 6. Ability to design, promote, implement and evaluate educational programs. 7. Skills in group facilitation. 8. Knowledge of adult and youth teaching/learning processes. 9. Experience in seeking and administering external grant funding. OTHER: 1.
