As part of MSU Extension and the Health and Nutrition Institute, this position provides local and statewide leadership and educational programming expertise in food safety, while coordinating the Supplemental Nutrition Education Program-Education supervising and staff development efforts across the counties located within MSUE District 2, including Marquette, Alger, Schoolcraft, Luce, Chippewa and Mackinac. It is anticipated that this position will be based out of Mackinac County.This position assesses community food safety needs, implements evidence- based programs, and designs and evaluates educational programming based on applied research and program evaluation methods. The Extension Educator ensures dissemination of research-based information through various methods, including multi-media, presentations and written articles, and serves as an informational resource for Extension personnel and clientele.In coordination of the SNAP-Ed supervising and staff development efforts, this position provides coaching, training, and technical support for new and existing paraprofessional staff associated with MSU Extensions Nutrition and Physical Activity program in support of their programming efforts. While ensuring the needs and goals of the HNI, MSU Extension and grantors are being met through support and management of the programming staff, the Extension Educator works with staff, specialists, and District Directors to ensure programming with individuals and community groups meets the needs of the clientele, and is in alignment with funder and/or MSU Extension Institute expectations. This position guides staff as they implement and evaluate programming efforts, ensures dissemination of research-based curricula and information, and serves as an informational resource for Extension personnel and clientele.

Minimum education level :
Masters degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to food safety, public health, food science, nutrition, dietetics, or a related health field of study, must be earned by date of hire.
