The State 4-H Office team includes seven 4-H Youth Development Specialist positions, 4-H Foundation staff and 4-H administrative assistants that report to the State 4-H Director. Additional Description, Instructions or Comments:
PURPOSE OF POSITION: The person in this position provides leadership for increasing participation of underrepresented populations in 4-H through strengthening current programming as well as developing new, innovative programming that reflects the needs, interests and resources of Colorados diverse youth, families and communities. This individual will facilitate internal and external conversations, deliver educational programs and be a trainer, coach and partner to support the success of Extension staff in working with diverse audiences. The specialist will assess how the 4-H program currently engages with underserved audiences, and develop strategies, implement initiatives, evaluate and alter approaches to enhance successful 4-H Youth Development Program engagement and expansion. This position requires working closely with all members of the State 4-H team to provide cohesive leadership for the statewide 4-H program, while also working collaboratively with campus partners and county partners. The individual in this position will work as a member of the Colorado State 4-H team to support the delivery of educational efforts for positive youth development across the state. This person works under the guidance and supervision of the State Director of 4-H Youth Development. Work schedule will vary but some nights and weekends will be required. This is a specially funded three-year position. Continuation of this position is contingent on successful performance and continued funding being secured. This position will focus on developing relationships and educational opportunities for positive youth development through the CSU Extension 4-H Youth Development Program. The position is expected to work collegially and collaboratively with other University and Extension staff who also are focused on engaging under-represented audiences. The position will support skill building among Extension staff and model culturally responsive engagement with diverse audiences. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Program Planning, Development, Delivery, and Evaluation: 50% Provide statewide leadership and strategic planning that increases capacity and effectiveness to work in the context of equity, diversity and inclusion. Increase participation through innovative outreach and changes to processes that serve as barriers to involvement. Identify internal staff training, mentoring and coaching needs. Work with other Extension 4-H staff to develop, deliver and evaluate programs and activities. Identify opportunities to enhance inclusion and operationalize engagement and expansion efforts. Build a network of engagement and expansion partners to champion efforts in county 4-H youth development programs. Serve as a resource to Extension staff. Note: % of job assigned to this duty may be changed as the program develops. Initiate and Develop Relationships and Partnerships: 50% Assure compliance with civil rights and affirmative action policies including reaching out to underserved and underrepresented audiences. Expand the resource base for 4-H from public and private sources through new partnerships, respond to emerging issues and employ communication strategies that create support for new initiatives. Build collaborative partnerships with urban and rural community organizations, businesses and individuals to support reaching new and/or underserved youth and adult audiences. Develop collaborative relationships within the CSU community in order to advance outreach and programming efforts. Establish and maintain relationships with Extension agents, 4-H specialists, 4-H STEM AmeriCorps, and campus faculty to plan, execute and evaluate educational programs at county, regional and state levels. ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education level :
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Completed masters degree. Candidates with a masters degree in process may be considered but the degree must be completed by hire date. One degree must be conferred in youth development, community development, organization development, education, diversity and inclusion studies, or a closely related field. A minimum of three years professional experience that demonstrates the ability to establish and grow relationships with diverse audiences resulting in innovative educational opportunities and measurable outcomes. Evidence of ability to work effectively as a member of a team to affect change and obtain desired outcomes. Experience leading train-the-trainer workshops and providing coaching and mentoring to develop aptitude and skills among internal staff and others. Experience in audience needs identification, program development and evaluation. Demonstrated leadership ability and evidence of drive and initiative. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate through teaching, public speaking/presentation and writing. Demonstrated skill working with people as individuals and in groups; ability to forge equitable and successful partnerships with other professionals and organizations. Must have a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain a drivers license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
