(For more information about the University of Hawaii at Mnoa and the College, please go to and and Responsibilities1.Develops objectives, priorities and plans for CTAHR research and extension programs with emphasis upon the needs of the county.2.Coordinates with the appropriate department chairperson if instruction is to be carried out locally or by distance education.3.Participates with CTAHR department chairpersons and the Deans office in the development of statewide plans for the development of agricultural industries, commodities and natural and human resources to assure coordination between county and state plans.4.Reviews and recommends funding for annual county plans of work and projects prepared by faculty members in the county based on county plans and priorities.5.Monitors and evaluates county programs and prepares reports in accordance with federal, state, University and CTAHR regulations and requirements.6.Organizes CTAHR county staff and faculty participation in county projects and community development and improvement activities.7.Exercises academic and professional leadership in planning and carrying out program activities based on professional respect and trust and principles of academic responsibility and collegiality. Exercises independent judgment in handling a wide variety of problems involving a highly diverse population of clientele groups and individuals.8.Responsible for the operations and maintenance of research stations and extension offices.9.Collaborates with the CTAHR Deans office and other county administrators to assure uniform, statewide policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.10.Responsible for repairs and maintenance of facilities and equipment and recommends CIP projects as necessary.11.Hires, supervises and evaluates county secretarial staff.12.Hires, supervises and evaluates farm manager.13.Provides input to the department for county faculty hiring and is required to agree with the hiring of any county faculty to be stationed in the county.14.Responsible for custody, allocation and maintenance of budgets, space, equipment, and facilities for all research, extension, and instruction activities in the county.15.Provides assessment of all county-based faculty in the promotion and tenure process to the dean.16.Assesses all county-based APT's in the evaluation process17.Administers other applicable fiscal and personnel policies and procedures.18.Officially represents the College in dealings with the county government, federal and state agencies (including regulatory agencies) located in the county, various advisory groups, industry and community organizations and leaders, and the general public. Maintains an effective working relation with these organizations and individuals.19.Serves as a public service leader in the community and interacts with other leadership segments in the county. 20.Represents county interests in the planning and program activities of the College.21.Secures resources to support county-based programs and projects from extramural sources.22.Markets CTAHR programs and activities.23.Conducts special projects of importance to the College. These projects may include scholarly work in research, instruction or outreach.24.Performs other administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum education level :
Masters degree or higher in an area related to agriculture, natural resource management or human resources..
Years of experience :
1.Attained the academic rank of I4 (associate professor) or R4 and/or A4; or has demonstrated a record of comparable professional experience prior to appointment. 2.Professional administrative experience such as 4H Director, Graduate Chair, Undergraduate Chair, Department Chair, County Administrator, Assistant Dean, etc.; 3.Knowledge of research and extension programs; 4.Ability to plan and implement programs and projects; 5.Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public; 6.Ability to make independent judgments and decisions; 7.Ability to provide academic, programmatic and professional leadership and mentorship

Desirable Qualification Requirements1.Three (3) years of previous administrative experience in a university or county governmental setting, or similar experience; 2.Experience in or knowledge of the county in which position is located; 3.Proven grantsmanship ability; 4.Strong knowledge and experience in the land-grant university system; 5.Ability to work with diverse groups, clientele, agencies, individuals and stakeholders.
