Adams County is located northeast of the Denver Metropolitan area. The geographical area of the county is 18 miles by 72 miles. The eastern half of the county is agricultural; primarily cattle and dry land wheat production. The majority of the countys population of 451,000 lives in the western half of the county. The urban rural interface is home to numerous 1- to 40-acre parcels. The county seat is Brighton and the Extension office is located seven miles to the south in Henderson on the Riverdale Regional Park campus. Approximately 60% of Adams Countys 4-H aged youth population is racially and ethnically diverse. The county 4-H program currently enrolls 500+ youth as club members, 120 certified 4-H volunteers and over 18,000 youth participating in school enrichment, afterschool and outreach programs in partnership with schools, youth serving agencies, and the National Western Stock Show. There are 22 4-H clubs in the county with youth enrolled in all project areas. In addition to this position, the Adams County Extension office team includes: a county director; five Extension agents (an agriculture agent, a 4-H youth development agent, a 4-H youth development/livestock agent, a family and consumer sciences agent, and a horticulture agent); a small acreage coordinator; a program coordinator who supports horticulture programming; and three technical and administrative support staff. PURPOSE OF POSITION: This position develops, markets and delivers non-credit educational programming in response to community needs. As a member of the 4-H youth development team, this position will have primary responsibility for the 4-H school enrichment, afterschool and outreach programs, provide educational opportunities for youth in Adams County, and provide leadership for the Adams County 4-H Shooting Sports program.Colorado State University Extension and Adams County Extension are seeking a 4-H youth development professional with the experience and skills to lead a diverse and inclusive youth development program in a growing urban and rural county. This person will have a proven track record of engaging community, delivering programs, working with volunteers, and using a variety of program delivery methods to engage youth and adults. The agent will be an effective communicator with competencies and skills that engage youth, adults, and groups from diverse backgrounds. The individual in this position works as a member of the local county Extension team and as a local representative of Colorado State University. Assignments may be reallocated and/or shared in the future based on interest and expertise. This individual will work regularly with other Extension agents across program and county lines, with program teams, and the State 4-H office. Flexibility in scheduling; night, weekend, and overnight work (able to be scheduled in advance) is required.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:Program Planning, Development, Delivery, Evaluation and Reporting: 60% Work as a member of the 4-H team to coordinate the Adams County 4-H youth development school enrichment, afterschool and outreach programs including development, implementation, evaluation, and reporting impacts of countywide non-credit educational programming that supports the growth and development of life skills for youth and adult audiences.Coordinate and deliver Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) school enrichment programs for youth.Develop and promote culturally appropriate programming that is inclusive of youth and adult audiences that are diverse and/or underserved. Assure compliance with civil rights and affirmative action policies.Provide leadership and support for the Adams County 4-H Shooting Sports program.Actively participate in Extension work teams to provide youth development expertise for program development, delivery, and evaluation efforts statewide.Seek out and manage external funding, personnel, and in-kind resources to support programming efforts.*Note: % of job assigned to this duty may be changed as the program develops.Initiate and Develop Relationships and Partnerships: 20%As part of the 4-H team, provide leadership and support for engaging a broad range of stakeholders through various 4-H youth development advisory councils and committees in the work of identifying and addressing priority 4-H youth development needs.Foster effective communications and develop strong partnerships with Extension staff, county departments, local schools and other youth serving organizations, Colorado State University staff, community leaders, agencies, and institutions to enhance strong program development, delivery, and evaluation.*Note: % of job assigned to this duty may be changed as the program develops.Volunteer Recruitment, Development and Management: 20% As a member of the 4-H team, provides leadership and support for an active, adult and youth volunteer based program including volunteer recruitment, selection, orientation, education and training, motivation, evaluation, recognition, and support. ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education level :
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Completed bachelors degree. Degree must have been conferred in education, youth development, agriculture, biologic or other science disciplines, or a closely related field. A successful candidate without a completed masters will be required to complete a masters degree relevant to their Extension position within 5 years from the start of employment. Failure to do so will result in termination unless a compelling reason is accepted by the Director of Extension. Professional experience working with youth and youth organizations, including understanding of youth development and youth program management. A commitment to working with diverse audience as demonstrated through active engagement, programming, community building, or accountability for diversity outcomes.Demonstrated experience working with people as individuals and in groups; ability to forge equitable and successful partnerships with other professionals and organizations.Professional experience managing volunteers including: recruitment, training, evaluation, and recognition.Evidence of creativity, drive, initiative, and leadership ability.Must have a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain a drivers license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
