Provide leadership and management of the Maine Families parent education/home visitation program of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, serving families in Waldo County. The Parent Education Program Manager has responsibilities in management (60%) including fiscal management and supervising two Parenting Education Professionals, and direct service (40%). Parenting Education Professionals serve as home visitors who work with clients to build protective factors that serve as buffers to reduce risk to children and families. These protective factors include parental resilience, knowledge of child development and parenting skills, social connections, and social-emotional competence of children. Through the Maine Families Program, the Parenting Education Professional delivers the Parents as TeachersTM evidence-based model that is based upon respected research findings with numerous studies demonstrating the following positive outcomes: increased parent knowledge of development, early detection of developmental delays, increased school readiness and prevention of child abuse and neglect.
