PURPOSE OF POSITION: This position develops, markets, and delivers non-credit educational programming for youth in response to community needs. The position will provide leadership, guidance, direction and educational program support to the 4-H Youth Development program in Boulder County. This individual works in partnership with other Boulder County 4-H staff members including the 4-H Extension agent/livestock, the 4-H program assistant, and a 4-H support staff; and as a local representative of Colorado State University. As a member of the 4-H team, this individual will have primary responsibility for the 4-H Club program in the areas of family consumer science, general projects, Shooting Sports, and leadership. Secondary responsibility will be for school enrichment, afterschool and outreach programs, including educational opportunities for diverse and underserved youth in Boulder County. Boulder Countys goal is to connect with and serve all youth. Assignments may be reallocated and/or shared in the future based on interest and expertise. This individual will work regularly with other Extension agents across program and county lines, and with program teams and the State 4-H Office. Flexibility in scheduling; night, weekend, and overnight work (able to be scheduled in advance) is required. This individual works under the guidance and supervision of the Boulder County Extension Director and receives guidance, training, and support from the State 4-H Office.Volunteer Recruitment, Development and Management: 40%As a member of the 4-H team, provide leadership and support for an active, diverse adult and youth volunteer-based program including volunteer recruitment, selection, orientation, education and training, motivation, evaluation, recognition, and support. Prepare volunteers to take on increasing leadership, mid-management, and public education/information roles.Note: % of job assigned to this duty may be changed as the program develops.Program Planning, Development, Delivery, Evaluation and Reporting: 40% Work as a member of the 4-H team to lead and coordinate the Boulder County 4-H youth development program. The program includes 4-H clubs and 4-H outreach (including school enrichment, afterschool, camping, etc.). Their primary responsibility is 4-H club-based work and 4-H outreach. All programs require the development, implementation, evaluation, and reporting of positive youth development work that supports the growth and development of life skills for both youth and adult audiences.Provide leadership and support for the Boulder County 4-H shooting sports program, family and consumer science, general, and leadership programs. Develop and promote culturally appropriate programming that is inclusive of youth and adult audiences that are diverse and/or underserved; assure compliance with civil rights and affirmative action policies.Coordinate and deliver science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programming for diverse youth audiences. Recruit, supervise, and guide AmeriCorps members, volunteers, and interns in meeting specific program delivery and developmental goals.Actively participate in Extension work teams to provide youth development expertise for program development, delivery, and evaluation efforts statewide.Seek out and manage external funding, personnel, and in-kind resources to support programming efforts.Note: % of job assigned to this duty may be changed as the program develops.Initiate and Develop Relationships and Partnerships: 20%As part of the 4-H team, provide leadership and support for engaging a broad range of stakeholders through various 4-H and local youth development advisory councils and committees in the work of identifying and addressing priority youth development needs.Foster effective communications and develop strong partnerships with Extension staff, county departments, local schools and other youth serving organizations, Colorado State University staff, community leaders, and agencies and institutions to enhance strong program development, delivery, and evaluation.Note: % of job assigned to this duty may be changed as the program develops.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education level :
Completed bachelors degree prior to start date; conferred in education; youth or child development; science; family and consumer sciences; leadership or closely related field. A successful candidate without a completed masters will be required to complete a masters degree relevant to their Extension position within 5 years from the start of employment. Failure to do so will result in termination unless a compelling reason is accepted by the Director of Extension. A completed masters degree adds $3000 to an employees base salary.Professional experience, background, coursework or degree(s) that provide a broad and significant understanding of positive youth development.Demonstrated evidence of leadership, drive and initiative. Must be a self-starter.Demonstrated experience managing volunteers including recruitment, training, evaluation and recognition.Demonstrated professional experience developing, delivering, and evaluating school enrichment and out-of-school time programming for youth. Must have a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain a drivers license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.

Bilingual and biliterate (Spanish and English).Demonstrated use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs.Ability to develop and implement program guidelines that address the requirements of partnering agencies and/or grantors. Demonstrated experience facilitating interpersonal and public discussions and working with advisory committees.Experience with cost recovery, grants or fundraisers that develop resources to support programming. Experience in marketing, promoting or creating public awareness of programs and opportunities including using social and mass media (e.g., TV, Internet, Facebook, newspaper, etc.).
