THE OPPORTUNITY: The University of Idaho seeks a successful candidate with a bold vision for the 4-H Youth Development in STEM programs with strong leadership skills to maximize the potential and embrace the many opportunities for growth throughout Idaho.The successful candidate will provide state-wide leadership and technical support for STEM programs and projects in positive youth development. This includes but is not limited to supporting program areas through collaboration at the state, multi-state and national levels. STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines science, technology, engineering and mathematics in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Also, the position will focus on expanding partnerships and bringing ancillary external resources to support the UI Extension 4-H Youth Development Program.Area Educators provide leadership and promote effective, efficient communication, collaboration and coordination to county 4-H personnel. They encourage expanded youth and volunteer participation through a variety of program delivery modes and innovative practices to bolster inclusivity among diverse and underserved audiences.Through the creation, implementation and evaluation of training opportunities, personnel and volunteers acquire skills to enhance leadership, citizenship, communication and sound decision making. Area Educators assist in networking with community partners to secure external financial resources to enhance positive youth development programming. They serve as liaisons between local Extension 4-H personnel and the State 4-H Office, facilitating open communication and programmatic alignment with state initiatives/policies.The successful candidate works closely with 4-H Professionals to create, conduct and evaluate innovative educational programs that lead to peer-reviewed Extension scholarship, including but not limited to: professional journal articles, curricula, publications, websites, professional conference presentations or Impact Statements. Achievements will be reported in the annual Extension reporting system.While the main University of Idaho campus is located Moscow, this position can be located at a location within the state. Dependent on the successful candidate's desire, the position could be housed at UI facilities in Boise, Caldwell, Twin Falls, Pocatello, Idaho Falls or Coeur d'Alene.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education level :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Master's degree from an accredited institution in Youth Development, Adult & Extension Education, or a closely related discipline Professional experience working with volunteer and youth programs Excellent presentation and organizational skills Effective team communication skills; in-person, via technologies, and in groups Effective problem-solving skills Demonstrate the ability to work in cross-cultural environments Willingness to travel Competent in using Microsoft Office package, online applications, and social media Demonstrated the ability to: coordinate, plan and implement events, workshops, trainings, and programs Organize and prepare information and materials, communicate with the public, both orally and in writingWork a flexible schedule including some weekends Must: possess valid driver's license
Years of experience :
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience working in Extension, preferably 4-H Youth Development Coursework in Education, Agriculture and/or Human/Youth Development Experience in grant and budget management Demonstrate conflict resolution skills Network/collaboration experience with volunteer organizations Experience generating curriculum and resource materials Experience in event management Experience: developing, recommending, and evaluating program procedures and recommending changes Experience developing technical written materials such as policies, technical manuals or rules/regulations Experience providing technical program assistance to staff and volunteers Experience gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing facts Experience devising solutions to problems; writing concise reports; developing and evaluating policies and procedures Work experience in an Engineering and Technology, or Business and Marketing related field
