The non-profit Partnership for Food Safety Education saves lives and improves public health through research-based, actionable consumer food safety initiatives that reduce foodborne illness. www.fightbac.orgThe Community Engagement Manager acts as PFSEs community expert and represents PFSE to the health educator community and current and potential partner organizations.The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of PFSEs community engagement activities, which include food safety education outreach, webinars and other events, internships, and more. The successful applicant will have a broad knowledge of marketing and communications, and relationship-building, both on-line and off-line. Successful nurturing and engagement of our network of health and food safety educators relies on being able to capture community success stories and bring them to our social media channels, and our outreach efforts. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. These requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required: Work with leadership to develop and implement PFSE outreach initiatives for specific communities; Develop and implement community promotion and engagement strategies and tactics as they relate to the organizations strategic goals; Propose action plans to leadership that anticipate questions, gather adequate background and show how success will be measured. Implement meetings, surveys, and other ways for communicating with, and receiving feedback from, the community about their food safety education initiatives and their relationship to PFSE resources;Attend and schedule in-person meetings and conferences on behalf of PFSE to hear community concerns and ideas, provide information about community engagement, and advocate for participation; Maintain databases of groups of stakeholders; Create mechanisms for internal and external evaluation of engagement initiatives; Distribute information to the community and broader publics through multiple channels; Develop metrics and narrative information for PFSE staff and Board regarding community engagement activities; Train and empower champions or ambassadors in the community to more significant levels of engagement;Work with colleagues to ensure successful coordinated campaigns for communications, fund-raising, and education;Monitor email, social media and survey comments, advise on potential opportunities and respond to stakeholder requests, inquiries and suggestions.Qualifications:KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES: Prior experience working with health education or voluntary preventive health networks and ambassador programs. Excellent writing and communications skills. Ability to write quality content on a tight deadline. An orientation to results and a curiosity about ways to improve effectiveness in community-building and preventive health education. Understanding of program evaluation basics and a keen interest around the collection and sharing of significant quantitative and qualitative data. Organized and thorough.QUALIFICATION / EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:Commitment to the mission of the Partnership for Food Safety Education. Experience in a similar role with proven track record of relationship-building. Minimum 2-3 years of member services, communications, marketing or related experience. Bachelors degree required. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to stay flexible and keep a sense of humor while working in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with WordPress & basic HTML.Familiarity with Constant Contact or other email products. Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of current social media and communications best practices and measurement. Knowledge of email marketing best practices, measurement and list maintenance. Ability to travel domestically, approximately five overnight trips/year.
