Posting Number/Job Order #: PS1111FY19Summary of Position:This position provides leadership for University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension Youth and Family Resilience programs designed to foster the positive development of NH youth and families. The position works in close collaboration with other UNH Extension Educators and UNH Faculty to develop, implement and evaluate community-based programs targeting the behavioral health needs of vulnerable youth and families. This is a non-tenure track Extension Educator position that will have an affiliation in the UNH College of Health and Human Services.Duties / Responsibilities: COMMUNITY -BASED PUBLIC HEALTH PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT FOCUSED ON BUILDING YOUTH AND FAMILY STRENGTHS :1) Plan, develop, implement and evaluate research-based community health programs focused on building the resiliency of NH youth and families. Programs could include: positive youth development, risk and protective factors for youth, trauma or ACES informed work, family systems, social determinant of health, substance use and misuse, suicide prevention, or youth mental health.2) Develop collaborative approaches (e.g., Collective Impact or collective sense-making) and lead multi-disciplinary groups and/or integrate with local/state networks and coalitions.3) Provide interpretation and application of current research, emerging issues and legislation related to the above topics in order to assist NH communities, the State Department of Health and Human Services and Extension staff and volunteers. EXTENSION YOUTH AND FAMILY RESILIENCE AREA OF EXPERTISE TEAM LEADERSHIP :Support team through logic model/plan-of-work development, program development, evaluation, grant writing and liaison work with UNH campus-based staff/faculty. Current areas of work include Youth and Families Experiencing Stress and Trauma; Social, Emotional and Mindful Learning; Youth Mental Health; and 4-H Healthy Living (i.e., social emotional health and mentoring). UNH DEPARTMENT WORK & ENGAGEMENT :Work within a UNH College of Health and Human Services department as a facilitator of translational science. Work to integrate campus behavioral health/youth and family resilience research efforts with Extension resources, programs, and staff. Potential efforts include: coordinating interdisciplinary applied research projects, acquiring external funding, coordinating practicum/internship placements, teaching classes related to public health approaches to youth and family development, advising graduate students and/or partnering with the UNH College of Health and Human Services to facilitate the UNH Behavioral Health Network.
