Description:
Washington State University Extension seeks a nationally recognized leader in university outreach to serve as Director of WSU Extension and Associate Dean in the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS). The Director will foster integrated approaches to problem solving by providing strong and effective leadership to research & extension faculty at WSU and affiliated institutions and county/regional Extension Educators. The successful candidate will provide leadership by articulating a compelling vision for the future of WSU Extension and motivating internal and external constituencies to work collaboratively to achieve that vision while serving as a member of the Colleges integrated leadership team. The Director will facilitate the continuation and expansion of WSU Extensions national leadership in innovative outreach programs, applied research and resource acquisition. The Director will lead a team of committed program directors with leadership responsibilities in Youth & Families, Community & Economic Development, and Agriculture & Natural Resources. The successful applicant will have an earned doctorate in a discipline relevant to the position and a record of scholarly achievement appropriate for an appointment in CAHNRS at the rank of professor. They will have demonstrated leadership at a management level within an extension program and evidence of a commitment to the Land Grant philosophy and university-wide outreach. They will also have demonstrated commitment to actively increasing the diversity of the faculty and staff of Extension and have the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups with diverse cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies in a global environment. Travel Requirements:
Extension with its almost 600 member staff. This includes nearly two hundred faculty in five academic colleges and twenty-two academic departments including county extension program areas.
