The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) seeks an outstanding applied research scholar with expertise in health as it relates to substance use and family processes. Preference will be given to candidates who focus on the prevention of substance use and opioid addiction among individuals across the lifespan, and who address family processes in the context of urban, suburban, or rural communities. We prefer candidates with expertise in advanced quantitative and/or qualitative methodologies, community- or school-based approaches to data collection and analysis, and expertise in developing and evaluating community-based education, prevention or intervention programs related to physical and mental health. The successful candidate will establish or continue an active research program and contribute to Extension efforts in outreach and community engagement by collaborating with a network of field-based Extension Educators. The candidate also will be expected to seek collaborations with other HDFS and University of Illinois faculty, and obtain external funding. The candidate may teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and mentor the research of graduate and undergraduate students.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education level :
All candidates must hold a PH.D. in HDFS, sociology, prevention science, public health, psychology, or related field. Candidates should show potential for a strong applied research and outreach program in their area of specialization, and have completed their degree before the start date of the appointment.
