The Educator will provide leadership, instruction and support for 4-H Youth Development programs within the Coeur D' Alene reservation, focusing on youth development, adult volunteer development, youth education program development, expanding partnerships, and participation and membership growth. The Educator will provide leadership for Agricultural and Natural Resource programs and will collaborate with community and economic development partners in programs related to agriculture, natural resources and youth life-skill development. The Educator will provide assistance in university outreach where appropriate.Scholarship & Creative Activities:Secure external funding, recruit, and develop partnerships that support and enhance county and district educational programs and research projects, and publish results in appropriate scholarly outlets.Outreach & Extension:Develop and enhance an effective, educational, results-oriented 4-H Youth Development Program that supports the growth and development of life skills among both youth and adult audiences within the reservation community. Work collectively with other Extension faculty and tribal resources providing leadership and programming for natural resources with emphasis on sustainable small farm production. Provide leadership for a diverse adult and youth volunteer programs including volunteer recruitment, selection, orientation, education and training, motivation, evaluation, recognition and support. Prepare volunteers to take on increasing leadership, management, and public education/information delivery roles in support of 4-H Youth Development and Horticultural programs. Develop and conduct effective educational programs that support the growth and development of life skills among both youth and adult audience working collaboratively with the Tribal Wellness Center's Youth Activity program, the Plummer School District and the CDA Tribal Planning and Education Department. Work effectively as a member of the Northern District 4-H team providing leadership as appropriate. Actively participate with other District 4-H and Extension teams; share outreach models, lessons learned and best practices throughout the organization. The Educator will provide technology transfer from the University of Idaho to clientele and will coordinate with other Northern Extension District faculty, the Coeur D' Alene Center and others in delivering and managing educational programs, volunteers and member training. Provide leadership and support for engaging stakeholders through various advisory councils and committees in the work of identifying priority needs, addressing them through effective and innovative plans of work. The Associate Extension Educator member will be expected to travel to conduct educational programs that may occur outside of typical office hours (evenings and weekends) to meet clientele needs.University Service & Leadership:Serve on University, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Extension, district and community committees, boards and working groups as appropriate.

Minimum education level :
Bachelors degree related to education or youth development, agriculture, natural resources or related disciplines appropriate to the position is required by date of hire.
Years of experience :
Demonstrated ability to design innovative and effective educational programs in response to local needs; implement programs and evaluate their effectiveness. Demonstrated experience working directly with youth and adult audiences and experience collaborating with community organizations to provide educational experiences to diverse youth and underserved audiences. Demonstrated competency in people related skills such as teaching, problem solving, communication, conflict management, relationship building and leadership development. Ability to work well in a team, provide effective leadership for Extension programming, and provide marketing and promotion of the 4-H program. Ability to communicate (verbal, written, listening, public speaking/presentation skills). Ability to recruit, teach, and manage volunteers. Computer literacy as demonstrated by the use of technology in programming.

Preferred Qualifications: Extension experience in 4-H Youth Development, or applicable professional experience. Knowledge of Native/Tribal programs Experience in fund raising, grantsmanship, and cost recovery efforts. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with mass media (TV, Internet, radio, newspapers).
