University of Idaho Extension is seeking applicants for the permanent, 12-month, tenure-track position of Assistant or Associate Professor, Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences. The position is located in the Ada County Extension Office in Boise, Idaho. The Educator will provide instruction and support in Financial Management for county, multi-county and state programs. They will plan, develop, implement, evaluate and report FCS Financial Management programs (70%). The Educator will collaborate with appropriate state, district, and county faculty and participate in the University of Idaho Extension, Financial Management program planning team. The Educators programs will focus on one or more of the planning teams priority issues areas for Individual and Family Resource Management (Youth Financial Literacy, Basic Financial Management, Budgeting, Financial Security and/or Personal Finances). These programs will provide impact for a mix of rural, suburban and urban audiences. The Educator will coordinate Financial Management program efforts with the appropriate agencies, coalitions, associations, and organizations and will contribute to state programs. The educator will recruit external funding and develop partnerships that support and enhance county and district educational programs and research projects, and publish results in appropriate scholarly outlets. The Educator will provide assistance in university outreach where appropriate. In addition, the Educator will provide multi-county program support for 4-H Youth Development in FCS project areas (10%). The Educator could potentially serve as chair of the Ada County Extension Office (20%). As administrative chair for the office, they would maintain a good working relationship with the Ada County Board of Commissioners, provide supervision for county budget preparation and personnel and perform other chair duties as required.

SCHOLARSHIP & CREATIVE ACTIVITIES (5%) - Recruit external funding and develop partnerships that support and enhance county and district educational programs and research projects, and publish results in appropriate scholarly outlets. OUTREACH & EXTENSION (70%) - Provide leadership and technical support for the FCS Financial Management program in Ada County. Provide instruction and support in FCS financial management for county, multi-county and district programs. Plan, develop, implement, evaluate and report financial management programs. Work with specialists and other faculty to provide technical subject matter training and curriculum materials. Programs will be delivered through classes, workshops, volunteer training sessions, and other methods as appropriate. Also prepare articles for local and regional newspapers. Participate in or provide information for radio and TV programs upon request. UNIVERSITY SERVICE & LEADERSHIP (25%) - Potentially serve as the administrative chair for the Ada County Extension Office. Provide leadership for office management, oversee county budgets and supervise office staff. Serve on University, College, Extension, district and community committees, boards and working groups as appropriate.

Minimum education level :
Masters degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to Family and Consumer Sciences (Consumer Economics focus), Economics, Business, Agricultural and Extension Education, Adult Education or a closely related discipline (the required degree must be completed by the date of hire).
Years of experience :
Preferred but not required - At least 3 years of experience in Extension Education and Family and Consumer Sciences (relevant experience acquired within the last 5 years preferred).
Travel Requirements:
Must be willing and able to travel and participate in evening and weekend programs.
Other Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Ability to organize and work with people. Computer literacy and good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to teach and lead group problem-solving and decision-making. Competence in using technology for program delivery, record keeping and reporting, and team-based communications. Ability to provide organizational structure and support for a variety of individuals and groups. Ability to recruit, teach, organize, and manage volunteer groups.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Ability to work well in a team, provide effective leadership for Extension programming, and provide marketing and promotion for FCS Extension programs. Ability to adapt research materials for effective oral and written presentations. Experience in disseminating results through scholarly outlets. Supervisory experience and proven ability to lead and mentor others. Demonstrated skills in organization and management. Previous experience working with underserved, un-served and minority audiences. Knowledge of Hispanic culture and ability to communicate in Spanish, both orally and in writing.
