This is a tenure-track, 12-month, fiscal-year appointment. Extension faculty develop, implement, evaluate, and coordinate research-based educational programs for youth and adults. Extension faculty also recruit, train and supervise volunteer leaders and serve as a liaison between local clientele, other resource agencies, and Utah State University administrators, faculty, and programs. Extension faculty have Davis County, regional, and University responsibilities. An office will be provided at the USU Extension building, located at the USU Botanical Center in Kaysville, Utah. We welcome candidates with diverse interests related to horticulture. This position will be available when hiring is complete.Rank will be commensurate with experience, qualifications and current rank. Appointment opportunities include Extension Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track). A Master's Degree is required for Extension Assistant/Associate Professor ranks.Responsibilities:* Provide leadership to Extension Horticulture education and activities.* Develop, implement and evaluate Horticulture related programs for adults and youth.* Develop partnerships and employ innovative approaches to reach clientele and new audiences.* Work with on-campus specialists in developing applied research projects and program development and delivery to clientele.* Work with USU Botanical Center Director and other county faculty in various outreach activities.* Work as a team member of the larger Urban Extension Initiative, collaborating with other county programs when appropriate.* Pursue internal and external funding to support Extension programming.* Document impacts and produce scholarly publications based on Extension programming.* Manage budgets and personnel.* Direct and oversee the Master Gardener Volunteer Program in Davis County.* Serve diverse audiences and support the civil rights mandate of Utah State University Extension.* Serve and collaborate with other Extension and University personnel, community and government agencies, and stakeholders.Dept/College Highlights:Utah State University (http://www.usu.edu) is Utah's Land-Grant Institution with an approximate enrollment of 28,000 students. County specific information is available at: http://www.daviscountyutah.gov.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:* An earned Master's degree in the areas of Horticulture, Soil Science, Extension Education or similar disciplines.
