Description:
University of Idaho Extension is seeking applicants for the permanent, 12-month, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor, Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS). The position is located in the Twin Falls County Extension Office in Twin Falls, Idaho.The Educator will provide instruction and support in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Health and Nutrition educational programs for county, multi-county and state programs. They will plan, develop, implement, evaluate and report FCS Nutrition and Health programs and provide district support and supervision for the University of Idaho Extension Eat Smart Idaho (Supplemental Nutrition Program (SNAP-Ed) and Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)) program (90%). In addition, the Educator will provide multi-county program support for 4-H Youth Development in FCS project areas (10%).Scholarship & Creative Activities (5%): Recruit external funding and develop partnerships that support and enhance county and district educational programs and research projects, and publish results in appropriate scholarly outlets.Outreach & Extension (90%): Provide instruction and support in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Health and Nutrition educational programs for county, multi-county and state programs. Plan, develop, implement, evaluate and report FCS Nutrition and Health programs and provide district support and supervision for the University of Idaho Extension Eat Smart Idaho (Supplemental Nutrition Program (SNAP-Ed) and Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)) program. Collaborate with appropriate state, district, and county faculty and participate in the University of Idaho Extension, FCS program planning teams. Programs will focus on one or more of the FCS planning teams priority issues areas. Coordinate FCS program efforts with the appropriate agencies, coalitions, associations, and organizations and contribute to state programs. Provide assistance in university outreach where appropriate. Provide multi-county program support for 4-H Youth Development in FCS project areas. Develop educational programs that meet clientele needs. Work with specialists and other faculty to provide technical subject matter training and curriculum materials. Programs will be delivered through classes, workshops, demonstrations, and other methods as appropriate. Promote UI Extension programs with clientele, elected officials, and other community partners through newsletters, websites, press releases, radio and television, and social media.University Service & Leadership (5%): Serve on University, College, Extension, district and community committees, boards and working groups as appropriate.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education level :
Masters degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to Family and Consumer Sciences, Agricultural and Extension Education, Adult Education or a closely related discipline (the required degree must be completed by the date of hire).
Years of experience :
Preferred but not required - At least 3 years of experience in Extension Education and Family and Consumer Sciences (relevant experience acquired within the last 5 years preferred).
Travel Requirements:
Must be willing and able to travel and participate in evening and weekend programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Ability to organize and work with people. Computer literacy and good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to teach and lead group problem-solving and decision-making. Competence in using technology for program delivery, record keeping and reporting, and team-based communications. Ability to provide organizational structure and support for a variety of individuals and groups. Ability to recruit, teach, organize, and manage volunteer groups.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to work well in a team, provide effective leadership for Extension programming, and provide marketing and promotion for FCS Extension programs. Ability to adapt research materials for effective oral and written presentations. Experience in disseminating results through scholarly outlets. Supervisory experience and proven ability to lead and mentor others. Demonstrated skills in organization and management. Previous experience working with underserved, un-served and minority audiences. Knowledge of Hispanic culture and ability to communicate in Spanish, both orally and in writing.
