Across California, the University of Californias division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) is an engine for problem solving. Serving as the bridge between local issues and the power of UC research, our more than 300 campus-based specialists and county-based advisors work as teams to bring practical, unbiased, science-based answers to Californians.

We seek an academic advisor who can conduct a multi-county-based extension, education, and applied research program that will focus on integrating livestock, natural resources, food systems and economics. The natural resource component of this position will focus primarily on minimizing the impact of livestock production systems on soil health, water quality, aquatic habitat, oaks, invasive species, wildlife, predators and drought management. The integrated nature of this position links animal science, rangeland ecology, and agricultural economics to help maintain working landscapes.

We seek an advisor who is:

An innovative researcher, who can develop an applied research program, evaluate programs, and report accomplishments, results, and potential or actual impacts to scientific and lay audiences;

An educator, who can disseminate useful, science-based information to inform clientele, using extension methods that are responsive to clientele needs and appropriate for the audience and situation;

A collaborator, who can develop partnerships and leverage resources to support the sustainability of the natural environments;

A visionary, who can complement UC ANRs Strategic Vision, optimizing opportunities for conducting outstanding research and extension programs that meet the needs of Californians.

This position is an academic career-track appointment; a minimum of a master's degree is required, though other advanced degrees are encouraged, in disciplines such as animal science, rangeland management or other closely related fields.
