Job Seekers

Q1: I saw a job posting yesterday, but today it's gone. Can you send me the information?

A: Jobs postings are active for 30 days, or until a posting is removed by whomever posted it -- whichever comes first. After that point, job postings are no longer available for view.

Q2: I've applied for a job posted on this site, but I haven't received a reply. Can you help me?

A: You will have to contact the job poster yourself. Make sure you've following the application instructions, and then email or call the contact person to follow-up.

Q3: If I report an error in an active job announcement, can you correct it?

A: Job posters are responsible for the accuracy of their own postings. You can, however, email the contact person for the announcement about the error.

Q4: Who do I contact about technical difficulties?

A: Please use the "Contact Us" form and provide your name, email address, and a summary of the problem. During the work week (excluding holidays), you can expect a response within 24 hours.

Job Posters

Q1: What qualifies as a job in higher education, outreach, or extension?

A: Basically, we will post jobs that aren't affiliated with commercial companies. Jobs with educational institutions, government, and non-profits, as specified in the terms of service, are welcome.

Q2: Job postings are online for 60 days. What if I want to post an announcement for longer than 60 days?

A: To post for longer than 60 days, you will need to renew the posting and submit payment after the first posting expires.

Q3: What if I want to post an announcement for fewer than 30 days?

A: You can set an expiration day short of 30 days from the time your submit payment. When that expiration date arrives, your posting will be removed. However, because you have paid for 30 days, you will have the option to reactivate the posting for the remainder of that time.

Q4: If I only want to post an announcement for 2 weeks, can I pay half as much as I would for a 30-day posting?

A: No. Due to the nature of our system, we are unable to calculate fees on a per-day basis.

Q5: I am not able to pay via credit card. Is there another method of payment I can use in order to post jobs on the National Job Bank?

A: We prefer payment via credit card. However, if that option is not available, you can make special arrangements to be invoiced for job postings. (Note, however, that any jobs posted in this way will not be activedly instantly as they would be when paying by credit card.) Please use the "Contact Us" form to request more information about this option.

Q6: What happens if I enter a job announcement, but don't submit payment?

A: The job announcement will be saved in our system, but only you will be able to see the job announcement. You can later choose to activate that job announcement by submitting payment or to delete the job posting.

Q7: What if I find an error in my posting after payment has been submitted and the job announcement is online?

A: If you need to adjust an active job posting or end an active posting before the deadline you originally set, you can log back in to make your changes. The responsibility for accuracy is entirely yours, and you are allowed to make changes at any time.

Q8: My organization has multiple jobs to post over the next few weeks. Can we pay for one posting and then change the content to reflect different jobs until our time expires?

A: According to our Terms of Service, available at http://jobs.joe.org/terms.php, an organization is entitled to post a single job announcement online for up to 30 days per $85 payment or for up to 60 days per $150 payment. Listing multiple jobs over the duration of a posting is regarded an abuse of our service. A single job announcement can be posted for multiple positions but you must pay based on the number of positions listed in the announcement. Currently, you must contact us at jobbank@joe.org to arrange a posting with multiple positions.

Q9: Who do I contact about technical difficulties?

A: Please use the "Contact Us" form and provide your name, email address, and a summary of the problem. During the work week (excluding holidays), you can expect a response within 24 hours.

Q10: I am completing a purchase order to post a job, but I need a physical mailing address. What is the mailing address for the National Job Bank?

A: The mailing address is:

National Job Bank -- Extension Journal, Inc.
ATTN: David Meckler
The Ohio State University
216 Kottman Hall
2021 Coffey Road
Columbus, OH 43210

Q11: My organization requires confirmation that your site is secure before I am allowed to pay via credit card. What security measures does this site employ?

A: The portion of our site that accepts credit card transactions uses SSL to encrypt the information you provide. You will find that the URL of that page begins with "https" rather than "http" to indicate use of SSL. (Your Web browser may also display a secure site icon to indicate encryption, but this varies by Web browser.)
